An example of too broad topic: The effect of childhood obesity on mental health.
This is an absolute No. Why? Because mental health can be hundred different things. What mental health are we talking about? What population are we talking about?

A better and more narrowed down topic would be: The effect of obesity on depressive symptoms of adolescent girls. This is more specific to one mental health issue, which is depression in this case. It also identifies one population and one gender: adolescent and girls.
