Networking devices Assignment | Online Assignment Help

Identifying networking devices

  1. Go to the computer lab. Using paper and pencil sketch the approximate location of each computer workstation. Later draw the same in Microsoft word (or use Visio or some other drawing software).
  1. Are there any additional devices in the lab? Printers?  Servers?  Flatbed scanners?  Include all additional devices in your drawing.

Note: Make sure all workstations and devices are labelled (with the right type of device name – E.g.: printer, workstation, etc.). Also make sure all workstations and devices are connected to each other in your drawing (to form a computer network).

  1. For at least two workstations, capture the output of the following command and paste it in your report.

ipconfig/all

To run the above command, go to Run (hit Windows key + R key simultaneously on keyboard) and type cmd to open command prompt. On command prompt, type ipconfig/all and hit enter key.

Identify the IP address and the MAC address from the output and mention them in your report.

  1. On the first workstation, open the command prompt and type the following command:

Ping <ip address of second workstation>

Note that <ip address of second workstation>must be replaced with the actual IP address of the second workstation obtained in the previous step.

Capture the output and paste it in your report.
